The Goring Hotel Design
The Goring has always been a hotel with a sense of character and humour, despite lacking in style. However, to celebrate its centennial, the hotel recently completed a stylish renovation project, culminating in the unveiling of its stunning new Front Hall. The hall features hand-painted wallpaper adorned with exotic animals, some of which are caricatures of staff and owners, set against a romantic English landscape.
The Bar & Lounge, designed by Tim Gosling, is opulently decorated in rich reds, yellows, and gold, while The Dining Room, designed by David Linley, features the Swarovski ‘blossom’ chandeliers, which are either loved or loathed. The hotel’s private garden, surrounded by flower borders and shrubbery, is a unique feature that adds a sense of space and privacy. The Goring also boasts some playful touches, such as self-mocking caricatures, Noel Coward singing on hold, life-sized sheep in bedrooms, and plastic ducks in bathrooms. Its house magazine, The Trumpeter, is full of fun.
