Soho Grand Hotel
The Soho Grand Hotel is a stylish and luxurious haven for trendsetters in the heart of SoHo. The hotel honours the neighbourhood's rich history with its sublime interiors, attentive service, and modern amenities.
Soho Grand Hotel Location
The hotel is perfectly located between Broadway and Sixth Avenue, offering easy access to the city's best hotspots, including designer retailers, restaurants such as Balthazar and Osteria Morini, and Washington Square Park. Six train lines within a 10-minute walk make it easy to venture beyond the area.
Soho Grand Hotel Design
The Soho Grand Hotel's design pays homage to the old New York and the significant eras that shaped the SoHo district, including the 1870s Gilded Age and the eclectic and artist-driven 1970s. Renowned designer Bill Sofield created the original interiors, which remain largely intact but updated. The hotel features elements such as concrete floors, plush fabrics, leather, cast-iron detailing, and magnificent artwork from local galleries, among others, all of which contribute to its overall ambiance.
Upon entering the hotel's ground-floor entrance, guests will find a grand glass-bottle staircase leading to the reception and lobby area on the second level. The salon, which doubles as the main gathering area and restaurant, exudes a lofty living room feel, adorned with lavish upholstered pieces and sheer draperies that hang high, accentuating the hand-painted silver leaf ceiling and the expansive, light-soaked space. It's easy to feel at home in this exquisite environment, and guests are sure to feel that way too.
Soho Grand Hotel Facilities
Guests can expect cordial and attentive service, with two restaurants, a bar, and a late-night club that features live music and serves food and drink. The hotel also offers bottled water, a champagne toast upon arrival, a fitness centre, premium Wi-Fi, a dog park, seasonal cruisers from Brooklyn Bike Co., and domestic long-distance calls as part of the $34.95 (£26) amenity fee.
Soho Grand Hotel Rooms
The hotel's standard rooms are welcoming and comfortable, featuring distressed leather headboards and warm, neutral colours with splashes of coral. Bathrooms are adorned with custom aviary wall coverings by Saul Steinberg, complementing the clean, charcoal-coloured subway tiles. Other amenities include Egyptian cotton bedding, Frette robes, Tivoli radios, and C.O. Bigelow bath products. Guests can request complimentary extras such as preloaded iPods, iPads, MacBook laptops, Nespresso machines, and Martin guitars.
Soho Grand Hotel Dining
Soho Grand Hotel's Grand Bar and Salon serves a limited all-day menu, with the full lineup available during dinner. Start with creamy ricotta and grilled pita, truffle beignets, or a healthy Tuscan kale salad. Other menu options include charcuterie and artisanal cheeses, the Grand burger, roasted halibut, and steak frites. Save some room for dessert and try the spiced apple cobbler with cinnamon ice cream. The bar is known for its extensive collection of American whiskeys, but also offers traditional cocktails and a curated wine list.
Guests can also enjoy breakfast at Grand Bar and Salon, or head to the adjacent Soho Diner, a casual space that serves a range of breakfast dishes, including huevos rancheros, smashed avocado toast, and smoked salmon with a bialy and herb cream cheese. The diner also serves lunch, dinner, late-night bites, and happy hour, with milkshakes, Boylan sodas, sundaes, and banana splits adding to the retro vibe.
In the Club Room, guests can sip on cocktails, snack on a late-night treat, and listen to live music on Wednesday to Saturday evenings. Later in the evening, DJs take over the lounge. During summer months, guests can enjoy drinks and a bite to eat outdoors at the al fresco café, Gilligan's.
