The hotel boasts a vibrant Straits Chinese-inspired design that integrates the historic former Joo Chiat Police Station built in 1928 with a contemporary façade. It's situated opposite the 112 Katong mall and is a short 20-minute taxi ride to Changi Airport, Singapore Expo, and Changi Business Park. Although it lacks access to the MRT station, nearby Dakota and Paya Lebar MRT stations are a mere 10-minute cab ride away. The East Coast Park waterfront, known for its recreational activities, is best reached by taxi.

Hotel Indigo pays tribute to the rich Peranakan heritage of the neighborhood with its vibrant Straits Chinese design theme. The hotel features a feature wall bearing a collage of Peranakan ceramic patterns in the lobby and a pavilion with colorful lanterns. The hotel also includes a pop-up 1960s “mama stall” that doubles-up as a book stand. During check-in, guests are welcomed with a choice of tea or hot/cold latte brewed with locally roasted beans.

Each room includes a living area with a carrom board as a coffee tabletop, a cane furniture-inspired sofa, and a minibar fashioned after a traditional display cabinet. The sleeping area has batik printed cushions and headboard with Peranakan motifs, and further in, you'll find a shower/bath area decked in Peranakan-inspired tiles with a floor-to-ceiling window and a classic enamel basin bowl stacked atop a marble-topped Singer sewing machine base serving as a vanity counter.

The hotel's dining outlet, Baba Chews Bar & Eatery, serves a Peranakan-inspired menu. The menu features a selection of dishes like beef short rib rendang, goreng chilli barramundi, pong tauhu soup, and dessert of kueh durian. Breakfast is a limited buffet of cold options and pastries matched with a menu of cooked-to-order hot food like eggs Benedict, kaya toast set, Belgian waffles, and daily-changing specials.
